7b5fdd3b15 Remove a link to the BSD Usenet News Searcher since 
it seems to be outdated as from 2001, the used cgi
script is not used anymore (404 error).  I contacted
the maintainer of the website several times but so far
i got no reply at all.  We can revert this change if
the maintainer is ever going to respond, but i do not
think that will happen.

05979f6cae From the PR: 
Commercial vendor listings are sorted in the order of the ASCII
character code, which is how xsl:sort works. This is unfair to
vendors across the board whose names start with a lowercase
letter, and are therefore sorted towards the bottom. This patch
fixes the issue by using the translate() function to return an
all lowercase value for the contents of the name tag.

a7613f7a01 Turn the entered code uppercase before looking it up in the database, 
to permit entering the code in lowercase (since the generator doesn't
 generate lowercase letters).
Use a relative url to querypr-code.cgi so that mirrors (and test boxes)
 can use the query-pr cgis unmodified.

3159cfc120 Add an explicit link for 'show one PR.' [1]

b63c7805f1 Forced commit to note that www/en/cgi/confirm-code.cgi was repocopied 
from sendpr-code.cgi at the same path.

querypr-code.cgi and sendpr-code.cgi will be coalesced into the single
script confirm-code.cgi.

45ebb802d4 Change font-size: 69%; for font-size: small; this should give a better 
rendering for IE and gecko based browsers (esp. if no minimum size font
is defined) users.
This is not perfect but the fonts displayed should be readable.

23aa9b9807 Correct a bug regarding the expiration of codes. 
The test for expired codes was inverted, so emptied the database every
time the test ran.  Due to the time that the sweep was made, this bug
only hit the user if someone else had submitted a PR in the period
between their obtaining the code and submitting the PR.

This is likely the cause of the unexplained failures that some users
were seeing, which we all blamed on misbehaving caches.

00616f3728 Convert a string in the id attribute to the upper case to avoid 
confusion.

Rationale: The ISO 8879 (SGML) specification defines this as
case-insensitive and it must always be treated as one in the upper case
when the SGML declaration does not include "NAMECASE GENERAL NO."
On the other hand, in the XML specification (REC-xml-20040204)
it is case-sensitive and no normalization with regard to the case
must not be performed by an XML parser.  We use HTML 4.01 (SGML) DTD
in most of the files in the www tree and convert them into XHTML
1.0 (XML) DTD forcibly by using tidy.  So, as long as we use both
SGML and XML DTD in this way it is better to use upper case only
for the id attribute to avoid the case sensitivity problem.

86a6cf0387 Remove the explicit $hsty_base='' and let cgi-style.pl take care of the 
default.  This has been a little wrong ever since these scripts moved to

1. If we're not running under cgi (for the mailindex run out of cron)
 2. If we're running on docs.freebsd.org (because it doesn't have the
    style files, and the "home" link would point to docs home, not
    the home home)
 3. If we're running on people.freebsd.org, to facilitate my testing

Otherwise, keep it relative for the benefit of mirrors.

f5004e162f Disable the CSS workaround for the <body>/<table> quirk for HTML4 pages. 
It looks like Firefox applies the relative size twice, making the fonts
 too small.  Instead, now they'll be too big - just a bit bigger than
 the "Large" web site font.

This only applies to HTML4 pages, which as I mentioned before are
 cvsweb and mailindex, and I don't think that mailindex uses tables.
 This means that this problem should be fixed when someone (no promises)
 imports cvsweb 3 which uses XHTML.

3f0bcf7d8f Update cgi-style to match the new web site look. 
Add an optional 2nd argument to html_header(); if it's missing or
 supplied and non-zero, html_header returns XHTML doctype; if it's
 supplied and zero, html_header returns HTML 4.01 doctype.
 cvsweb and mailindex are the only HTML4 holdouts.  cvsweb should
 be updated to 3.x which is XHTML, but that's a seperate step.
I left $hsty_home alone, because I couldn't find anything that used
 it or any obvious image to use for it in the new layout.

96eed466bf *sigh* I give up. 
My most sincere thanks to all the people who offered to send me a
video card. I spent an entire day futzing around with a video card
I "borrowed" from my roommate's computer while he was at work, and
determined that it's in fact my motherboard that has gone wonky.

So, I can't really do any FreeBSD work until I get a new motherboard,
but given that I just made a tool of myself by asking for equipment
that turned out not to be the source of the problem, I'm not going to
ask for one here. My thanks to all who offered me a new video card;
I'm glad I didn't take advantage of any of your offers before I found
out that the card wasn't the problem after all.

*glares at the stupid no-name brand discount motherboard*

1fd75e69e0 Mark fifo race as done now that it has seen significant testing. There 
remain likely races in the fifo code, but the particular race that was
causing build problems with high -j for kris has been worked around.

c33a0a5637 One problem with the new layout is that we don't get to have our 
project-specific links on the left anymore; instead, all the links to
our documents appear at the bottom. To prevent them from being missed
completely by confuzzled new users, I've tightened up and/or excised
non-essential text. I've taken out the "how to upgrade to GNOME 2.10"
thing (when 2.12 comes out, that section will replace the "where's my
GNOME 2.12?!" question), and I've taken out the state-of-the-port section.
I'm not entirely sure about that last one; please feel free to add it
back in if you feel it belongs.
