eb2cd84505 Internet Explorer fails to render some tables generated by the 
informaltable element properly, unless the pgwide attribute is
explicitly set to 1.  Use this consistently within the (en) tree, and
update the FDP accordingly.  This should finally silence the demons in:

7784dcbca2 Force the pgwide attribute's value to 1 for some tables in order to 
avoid strange formatting.  This affects most tables with colspec
elements that declare colwidth, but not all.

9b7a21de42 Correct some misuses of "its" and "it's". 
Also expand some contractions of the same, discovered while I was
hunting down all of the above.

This commit can very likely be ignored by translation teams, as I doubt
that this problem transcends languages.

277441b9e8 - Revise some comma usage 
- Revise wording of some sentences
- Use <acronym> and <filename> tags
- Follow FDP on continuous repetition of &man.command.#;
- Write out numbers under 10
- Show an example of complete output of "ls -l" command
- Mention after successfully logging in, you will see the MOTD, and
  the command prompt
- Remove misleading comment about how chmod ### can only "set and
  assign" permissions, but not remove them.
- "CPU time evenly to each user" -> "CPU time fairly to each user"
- "permissions stored as two octets" -> "permissions stored as three
  octets"

d122695827 Add trademark symbols: 
- Add trademark tags for all trademarks now that the stylesheet
   handles it right.
 - Always use correct case for trademarks.
 - Don't join trademarks with other words, e.g. using hyphens.

e06bad48b3 Add the 'frame="none"' attribute to the only table in this chapter 
without it.  Tables are rendered better with our current docbook
stylesheets if they omit the frames around each cell.

6fa84d219b Add "Binary Formats" section to Unix Basics chapter. 
I don't like this here, but it sucks less than having it in any other
sections.

This text bears a *very* suspicious similarity to the binary format
questions in the FAQ.

a0293ec921 Clean up some index entries: 
- capitalize IP and FORTRAN,
- move entries in singular to the corresponding plural entries,
- fix AT&T index entry,
- move composite entries into the primary index entry and
  add a secondary entry when necessary,
- move indexterm elements in the proper section.
