<a href="http://developer.intel.com/technology/64bitextensions/">Intel® EM64T</a>

(Extended Memory 64-bit Technology) architecture. The AMD64
|
|
architecture was previously known as x86-64 or ``Hammer.''
|
|
The Intel EM64T architecture was previously known as
|
|
IA-32e, Clackamas Technology (CT), and Yamhill.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p>The AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ 64 processors
|
|
use the AMD64 architecture.</p>
|
|
|
|
<h3>Status:</h3>
|
|
|
|
<p>Currently FreeBSD/amd64 runs in 64-bit multiuser mode, in both
|
|
Uniprocessor and Multiprocessor mode.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p>The AMD64 platform is currently a <a
|
|
href="&base;/../doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/committers-guide/archs.html">Tier
|
|
1</a> FreeBSD platform.</p>
