<p>Dieses Dokument enthält die Liste der unterstützen Geräte für
FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE auf AMD64 Systemen (meistens einfach FreeBSD/amd64 5.3-RELEASE
genannt). Hier finden Sie zum einen alle die Geräte, von denen wir wissen, daß
Sie funktionieren; zum anderen finden Sie hier Hinweise, wie Sie den Kernel anpassen
können, wenn Sie ein bisher noch nicht unterstütztes Gerät verwenden
wollen.</p>

<h2 class="SECT1"><a id="PROC" name="PROC">2. Unterstützte Prozessoren und
Mainboards</a></h2>
<p>Seit Mitte&nbsp;2003 unterstützt FreeBSD/amd64 die AMD64 (``Hammer'') und Intel
EM64T Architektur. FreeBSD/amd64 ist nun eine der Tier-1 Plattformen (das heißt
voll unterstützt), die unter allen Gesichtspunkten des FreeBSD-Betriebssystems (wie
Installation und Entwicklungsumgebungen) als produktionsreif angesehen werden.</p>
<p>Für diese Architektur gibt es zwei Namen: AMD64 (AMD) und Intel EM64T (Extended
Memory 64-bit Technology). Der 64-Bit-Modus beider Architekturen ist weitgehend gleich,
so daß beide Architekturen unter FreeBSD/amd64 laufen.</p>
<p>Zur Zeit werden folgende Prozessoren unterstützt:</p>
<ul>

<p>AMD Athlon64 (``Clawhammer''),</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>AMD Opteron (``Sledgehammer''),</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Intel 64-bit Xeon (``Nacona''). Dieser Prozessor wird mit 90&nbsp;nm Fertigungstechnik
hergestellt und mit 2,80&nbsp;GHz bis 3,60&nbsp;GHz (FSB 800&nbsp;MHz) betrieben. Es
werden Intel E7520/E7525/E7320 Chipsätze verwendet.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Intel Pentium 4 Prozessor mit Intel&nbsp;EM64T (``Prescott''). Dieser Prozessor wird
mit 90&nbsp;nm Fertigungstechnik hergestellt und mit 3,20F/3,40F/3,60F&nbsp;GHz und Intel
925X Express Chipsätzen betrieben. Die zugehörigen S-Spec Zahlen sind SL7L9,
SL7L8, SL7LA, SL7NZ, SL7PZ und SL7PX. Beachten sie, daß Prozessoren aus der
5xx-Serie EM64T nicht unterstützen.</p>

<p>Intel&nbsp;EMT64 ist eine erweiterte Version der IA-32 (x86) Architektur. Sie
unterscheidet sich von der IA-64 (Itanium) Architektur, die von FreeBSD/ia64
unterstützt wird. In alter Dokumentation von Intel wird EM64T auch als ``64-bit
extension technology'' oder ``IA-32e'' bezeichnet.</p>
<p>Der größte bisher getestete Speicherausbau war 8&nbsp;GByte. SMP wird jetzt
unterstützt und ist schon ausreichend stabil.</p>
<p>Die unterstützte Hardware für FreeBSD/amd64 ist mit der von FreeBSD/i386
vergleichbar. Einige ältere Treiber sind wahrscheinlich nicht kompatibel mit einem
64-Bit System. Im allgemeinen sollten alle Treiber funktionieren, die bereits auf einer
der anderen 64 Bit-Plattformen funktionieren.</p>
<p>FreeBSD/amd64 ist immer noch eine recht junge Plattform für FreeBSD. Der eigentliche
FreeBSD Kernel und die Komponenten des Basissystems sind schon sehr stabil, aber es gibt
noch diverse Problemzonen, speziell bei Packages anderer Hersteller.</p>

Geräte</a></h2>

<p>Dieses Kapitel enthält alle Geräte, die auf jeden Fall von FreeBSD auf amd64
Systemen unterstützt werden. Andere Konfigurationen können auch funktionieren,
allerdings wurden sie noch nicht getestet. Rückmeldungen, Ergänzungen und
Korrekturen werden dankend angenommen.</p>
<p>Wenn möglich, wird der zum jeweiligen Gerät bzw. zur jeweiligen
Geräteklasse passende Treiber aufgeführt. Wenn es unter FreeBSD eine
Online-Hilfe für den betreffenden Treiber gibt (das ist der Normalfall), wird sie
ebenfalls aufgeführt. In dieser Online-Hilfe finden Sie genauere Informationen
über vom jeweiligen Treiber unterstützen Geräte und Controller finden.</p>
