"Why does recompiling the latest ISC BIND fail?"
It doesn't. If this question had been phrased more usefully ("why does recompiling BIND 8 on FreeBSD 2.2.5 fail" or somesuch), I would say to keep this until we start over with the FreeBSD 5.x FAQ. Since this entry now contains absolutely no useful information, whatsoever, in any form, other than to let us know at some time in the past seven years some version of FreeBSD had a problem with some version of BIND, I'm taking it out behind the barn and disposing of it with extreme prejudice.
