8d4363944d Add '<' and '>' symbols around email addresses in the originator line. 
It used to look like:

Originator:
	Joe Blow joe@blow.net

and now looks like:

Originator:
	Joe Blow <joe@blow.net>

with the email address being a hypertext link in both cases.

549131b114 Add "Synchronization Status" feature in Japanese web pages. 
1. Add .sgml -> .revinc rule in web.mk.  This tells how to make SGML
   include file which contains revision information.

2. Add ja/revcheck script.  This script makes revision information
   from English SGML file and localized one.

3. Add *.revinc files into GENDOCS in localized Makefile.  This will
   generate *.revinc files from each *.sgml files.

4. Add %rev.diff entity into localized includes.sgml.

5. Add statement to include *.revinc for each *.sgml files.
   (this will be followed separately.)

ab928f5a0c Fixed path to the 'how to make a port' section of the handbook. Seems

I haven't applied the patch in the PR to the other language translations,

c529a23607 Change the "Getting FreeBSD" link in the sidebar to point to 
availability.html instead of the Handbook installation section.

availability.html includes references to buying CDs, and the
Handbook doesn't.  There's still a link from availability.html to
the Handbook.

3a51524e71 Don't build the /ports/ pages if WEB_ONLY is set. The ports pages are 
automatically created from /usr/ports/INDEX and it does not make
sense to test the ports pages (Note: WEB_ONLY is a debug variable
for the webmaster, nothing else).

eb6593059c Makefile framework to pull the DocBook tutorials in to the web site. 
index.sgml came from doc/en_US.ISO_8859-1/tutorials/, and is the last
web site specific file to come out of the doc/ repository.  They are
now separated.

Makefile is best termed a "gross hack".  This will be removed as soon
as the docs are spirited away on to their own web site.

92bf4933d5 Pull out the realinstall2 target. The code to do this is part of the 
standard doc/ build, and can be turned on for all articles and books
as necessary.  What's more likely is that these files (.tar.gz of the
HTML, PS, and other versions) will be automatically generated and placed
on wcarchive, and linked to there instead.

90816a2088 When creating the "Submit Followup" link, be more aggressive about 
url-encoding unsafe characters.  Instead of a comparing against a list
of unsafe characters, compare against an inverted list of safe characters.
Specifically fixes " " spaces in urls, but probably others, too.

Make the url-encoding that did already exist work.

60dfe245a4 Whitespace clean up only, to make it clearer to see how the files are laid 
out, and spot inconsistencies.

By God that was painful.  And I'm not finished yet -- this commit just gets
the files into a semblence of order.  Now I have to go through them
excising all the dodgy HTML practices, and doing a consistency check.

Argh!

15cdaa1313 Add notes stating which release of FreeBSD each y2k bug was (will be) fixed 
in.

Wow.  Do you realize this file will become irrelevant in 4 months?  Summer
vacation is almost over.  Two months ago I wrote my last exam.  At the time,
four months seemed like a merciful eternity for a summer vacation.  Now there
are only two months left.  Four months is pretty short.  I remember when the
pr misc/1380 was filed, I read the comment about how the bug reported in
that pr would surface in four years.  My first thought at the time was
"Wow, that's pretty soon."  Come to think of it, in retrospect, it wasn't
even that long ago that I was young enough to suffer the illusion (or "be so
innocent as to believe", YMMV) that the year two-thousand would never arrive.

I'm allowed to waste verbiage in this commit log.  The file is doomed in
four months, anyways.

cdf38d09cf Changes to promote a uniform look to the press page. A news item now 
has the following format:

  <month-and-year>

    o <organization-name>	    <date-of-article>		<BR>
      <name-of-article>						<BR>
      by <author-name>						<BR>
      <additional-description>

    o ...

The press page is presently coded as an HTML document, so the
following discussion will use html terminology.

    <month-and-year> is a <h2> section element, with a <ul>
    list as its child.  Each list item is enclosed in a pair of <p>,</p>
    tags and consequently appears as one paragraph to a browser.

    <organization-name> will be a link to the primary web site of the
    organization in the news item.

    <date-of-article> is presented as: (nn)? <month-name> <year>.
    Here <month-name> is the full name of the month.  <year> is a 4
    digit year.  The (nn?) is the numeric day of the month, if available.

    The <organization> and <date-of-article> items are rendered
    as `bold' on suitably capable browsers.

    <name-of-article> is the title of the article and is a link to
    the actual article on the WWW.

    <author-name> names the author of the article, or, in the case
    of company press releases, states that it is a press release.

    <additional-description> consists of a few lines (one paragraph)
    summarizing the article so that readers do not need to download the
    article in question to decide if it is interesting.

Entries in a month with a date are sorted most recent first.
Articles without a specific date appear before articles with
known date.  This order is arbitrary and has been used for
consistency of presentation.

Other non-visible changes to the HTML:

o HTML tags now uniformly lowercase
o a couple of sgml errors corrected

The web page now passes the `tidy' test.

7b93b3d70f The compat20 and compat21 distributions install themselves into 
/usr/lib/compat.  The compat20/compat21 distributions are a.out libraries,
thus they should live in /usr/lib/compat/aout to match "ldconfig_paths_aout".

dfb6596771 Add VicFUG, the FreeBSD user's group in Victoria Australia. Now we have 
user groups in four out of seven states of Australia, so I moved all the Oz
entries under an "Australia" entry which, according to alphabetical order,
is at the top of the page. Yay - where we belong!

f32bd3a3f0 Try to solve a chicken-egg problem: 
Makefile first includes Makefile.gen and then
regenerate Makefile.gen - but it don't read Makefile.gen again.
If the contents of the old and the new Makefile.gen differs
make may fail.

This happens if a category disappeared from INDEX (e.g. a typo in
CATEGORY variable). The Makefile try to build the old
category.sgml file which is no longer available.
