d8b393f383 This patch does the following: 
- comments out Mathematica chapter
- adds a comment that the installer shell script works but the binaries don't as only 64-bit is available and to revisit if linuxemu adds 64-bit support
- modernizes 11.3.1
- 11.3.2 left untested as binary would not launch

deabc6ee4c Replace UTF-8 'RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK' (U+2019), encoded as 
0xE2 0x80 0x99, with a standard apostrophe.  It's not clear to me why
this was brealing the build on the cluster and seemingly nowhere else, but
this should at least allow the build there to complete.

f846d4ea99 This patch does the following: 
- makes 4.2 clearer and tightens some of the headings
- removed reference to learn more about single-user mode as it didn't say anything more; instead, summarized single-user mode here
- made intro to permissions clearer, the next patch will work on the rest of this section

b35a30a7fe Try to bring the handbook introduction a little more up to date. 
I think the majority of this chapter likely needs to be completely
rewritten, and hope to see it done soon.  However, in the mean time,
at least try to make the handbook introduction a little more
current.

55bc696609 This patch does the following:

669de101e0 This patch does the following: 
- adds pkg instructions to 6.3. Installing Xorg
- adds a Caveats section to 6.4. Xorg Configuration
- temporarily moves the extra config stuff to a new section called 6.8. Troubleshooting--this text has not yet been reviewed and this section may end up being instead called 6.8. Advanced Configuration or shuffled elsewhere in a subsequent patch
- replaces instances of X and X11 with the entity for xorg
- some updates to Synopsis, there will be more updates as the chapter is reviewed and shuffled
